Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked through her homework assignment. The topics covered include: the use of z scores in real life applications, and interpreting results acquired from statistics problems."
"Student working with stat cartoon book. He reports that girlfriend is no longer competing and he has a study group. Also using online help for limited problem solving. Already did his homework and it was correct. Confidence rose substantially. Still working on context and problem solving from the problem backwards to the start."
"We continued going through the practice problems to review for the student's exam. More hypothesis testing and t- and z- table test statistics."
"The client had homework for an introductory statistics course on correlation and regression. We conducted some analyses in SPSS, interpreted and reported the results, and then worked through some questions on calculating standard error and regression equations."
"Today we reviewed a quiz the student took earlier this week, which covered z-scores, probability, and independence. The student did a great job of recognizing the patterns and formulas that he has to use for different events, specifically ones with a normal distribution. At first the student was confused about the topic, but as the session progressed he was able to correctly solve homework problems himself. He is very determined to do well on the upcoming midterm."
"The student had assignments on hypothesis tests, confidence intervals, sampling distributions, and correlations/regressions. She did very well with the correlations and regressions. Hypothesis tests were more difficult, but we discussed how to tell the difference between a one tailed test (either Ha: > or Ha: <) and a two-tailed test (Ha: true mean does not equal claimed mean). We also talked about to use a test for proportions and when to use a test for mean."
