Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued our review work, going over the practice AP exam that she was given. These problems covered estimation about graphs by extrapolating from given data and estimation using different methods. The only problems that she ran into were computational in nature, that is to say that she set up the problems perfectly, but when punching into the calculator, things went awry. On the non-calculator section, she was superb."
"We covered how to read and interpret velocity graphs. The student appeared to grasp most of the concepts, but he struggled with determining max distances from the starting point according to a velocity graph. As always, he remained motivated throughout the session and was great to work with."
"Today, we finished discussing the topics on the student's Calculus test. Most of the problems concerned the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus (both parts) and the interpretation of the definite integral in terms of area."
"Today we started doing related rates problems. These problems encompass every concept the class has covered so far and expose any weaknesses. After our session however, I feel like she was getting used to the notation and getting comfortable with the easy problems. The challenge problems for this section are extremely challenging. She will definitely need to get more practice with these types of problems. I advised that she may want to do an extra session with me or her teacher."
"The student has an exam on Tuesday, so we went over practice problems and topics that he was having trouble with for this session. For the most part, we walked through optimization problems. Specifically, we went through conceptualization aspects of the problems, such as extracting the information given and turning said information into equations. In addition, we went through figuring out how to pick an equation for max and min optimization. Towards the end of the session, we also walked through some practice exam problems that the student had trouble with. This included linearization, limits to infinity, and graph sketching. However, the student knew these topics well and they were simple to go over. He seems very well prepared for his exam on Tuesday."
"The student is having a test tomorrow so we reviewed the information that her teacher gave her. We covered derivatives, derivative proofs, rates of change, graphing, and exponential decay."
