Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over angular momentum and its components. We discussed the moment of inertia and how to pick the correct equation for it. We also covered conservation of angular momentum and how to use the concept to solve problems."
"Studied for the student's unit test on physical science and her quiz on chemical vs. physical properties and reactions. Completed a worksheet and book exercises on unit vocabulary, then reviewed atomic structure and the difference between physical and chemical observations. She has a good understanding of the more recent material (difference between physical and chemical properties and mixtures and solutions). I would suggest continuing to review vocabulary, paying special attention to the earlier material."
"Today, we went over Session 2 material of Module 1. There is a lot of material to cover for the student's test. There are 3 modules and we spent 4 hours going over just one of them. This module was mostly about enzyme and allosteric activity. We familiarized ourselves with inhibitors, Michaelis-Menten Equations, and the different types of enzyme catalysis. On Thursday, we'll start covering the second module."
"I went over the student's methods and materials section for her biology project. I helped her review the sections and make them more specific. Then I helped her with some final questions from an in-class assignment. Then I quizzed her on topics from her upcoming test."
"In this session, we went over how the test on Monday went. I was happy to hear that the student thought it went quite well, and she had completed her study guide. They are starting a new research project that we discussed, but she can't get started on it yet because she has to choose a research subject. I went through all of the assignments that were possibly still due, and she said she was finished with them."
"Tonight we did a review of all the units we have worked on for this semester (in preparation for her final). We discussed the cardiovascular system, plants, ecology, evolution, meiosis/mitosis and translation/transcription. She really has a solid understanding of the materials and a great study plan laid out. Next week we will do mock test questions so that she is completely ready for her exam."
