The student and I spoke about the assignment and the issues to discuss in the paper. He has a good topic, and a good grasp of the concepts. He will send me the outline, which I will review and send back comments on. We will meet again on Sunday night to discuss a draft. He then finished the last five problems on his homework.

The student is preparing for his math test on Thursday. I am confident he understands the concepts, but we are working really hard on limiting our minor errors and focusing on the material. All of his mistakes come from him not paying attention and double-checking his work. He also understands that's why he has errors. As long as he can remain focused and write down his steps when he's doing his work, he should show significant improvement on his test. We are aiming for an A+!

During this session, he and I continued working on his Extended Essay, coming close to finishing the final touches on his introduction section. I advised him on writing standards when it came to citing common information between sources, which allowed him to work on formulating a brief history of hip-hop as protest music and avenue of social commentary leading to an introduction of Kendrick Lamar and his work on TPAB. He seemed much more focused today and was self-directed in his work. I aided him in suggestions in terms of grammatical style, but I allowed him to voice his own words which seemed to give him a lot of confidence. He also expressed confidence in completing the song analysis portions of the Extended Essay and seemed very pleased with his efforts. I'm very pleased to see his progress!

The student and I have been reviewing a variety of topics, as well as working out of his SAT prep book. Topics that we have gone over include working with triangles (Pythagorean Theorem, basic trig functions, area), systems of equations, slope, and slope-intercept form, as well as word problems, and solving two-sided equations. I have seen significant improvement in his math skills. He has not only improved in all of these topics since we have started working together, but he now feels confident in many of them. While there is always room for improvement, I believe he will do well if he can remember what he has learned and use his abilities to solve problems that require putting together multiple skills.

Today we went over his homework, checking for correct use of persons and verb conjugations. We also stopped to introduce indirect action and possessive persons and their role in a sentence. He was not struggling but still needs practice with verb conjugation. As usual, he was very engaged but he appreciated a review game at the end. We began putting the material learned into actual sentences and practiced their pronunciation and he did very well.
