Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I reviewed the Quiz 4 that I assigned to her, which includes rotations, reflections, translations and dilations. We then reviewed for the state assessment that she must take soon. She did very well today. I was able to tell that she has been doing some extra mathematics work in her free time. She struggled somewhat with the explanations for Quiz 4, however this is nothing to concern ourselves with. I instructed her to review her material from Quiz 4 and to also complete the mini Practice Exam that I left with her. I will review this material with her during our next session."
"Today the student and I spent our session working on her math, specifically quadratic equations. We started with the completing the square method and then reviewed factoring and using the quadratic formula. Lastly, we reviewed the box method for equations when a does not equal one. He did well with all of the material, especially the more challenging questions."
"Student and I went over two specific methods of solving quadratic equations, using the quadratic formula and completing the square. I wrote out for him some general steps and instructions, which is how he typically learns best, I have found. He said he was understanding much better afterwards. We also went over square roots, because he was a little rusty."
"We covered division. The student was enthusiastic and happy to learn how to do division. I gave her two prizes for doing well on understanding division and behaving well overall."
"I met with this student for the first time. I got to know him as a student, and learned his likes and dislikes. I assessed his reading comprehension skills. He needs to continue to work on his reading fluency. We will continue to work on this."
"Today, the student and I worked on division, percentages, addition, and subtraction. He is struggling with finishing the problems in a timely manner. Mostly he understands math concepts. He is just needing extra time to solve these problems. The only strategy to improve this is to just keep practicing so I left him with more problems to work on before our next session."
