Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked through her homework assignment. The topics covered include an introduction to the nonstandard normal curve, and the use of z scores to convert between them."
"The student and I spent 30 minutes working on an assignment for her statistics class. We then worked on several essays she had to complete as part of a project for her business writing class."
"The student asked me to help on another homework assignment. This assignment focused on using the standard deviation, mean, and confidence intervals of a dataset to make conclusions about the dataset. The student and I discussed the theory behind the problems and seemed to be getting the hang of it by the end of the session."
"The student and I went over her Geometry HW from the previous week and moved onto the next section. Her HW was about sin, cos, tan, and the new material was about the measure and length of arcs. She had a positive attitude and quickly picked up on concepts. Strategies left were nuanced (i.e.. how to better use a calculator, deriving equations through common sense rather than blindly following formulas, etc.)."
"We went over study materials for geometry including slope intercept and circle formulas. We also worked on using two formulas to solve for one variable."
"The student has a quiz in math tomorrow over systems of equations, so we particularly focused on the new section of notes on linear inequalities and finding area of multiple intersecting inequalities. After reviewing for this test, we finished the last state proficiency practice test which was a calculator section. The only note I really had for him was to label his scratch paper so that he can go back when he is checking his work and can easily find it on the sheet. He feels pretty prepared (testing starts Wednesday)."
