"Today's lesson focused on manipulating and transforming equations. These included parabolas, roots, absolute values, and circles. It also contained a quick review regarding incepts and symmetry. He seemed to grasp everything fine, and I assigned homework accordingly."
"After a short introduction, we sat down to do problems that the student had been assigned. I guided her through trig identities and how to simplify. I gave her advice on how to go about the questions with a different approach. I am very pleased about her attitude towards the math and am confident that she will make a high score on her test next week."
"The student and I finished her last word problems on the Law of Sines. She understands clearly applications for the law of sines but might have problems with complex multi-step word problems."
"We worked on powers and roots of complex numbers. We discussed De Moivre's theorem and how to apply it to these kinds of problems. We spent more time on the roots and finding those by the theorem and by graphing. We also talked about how to write simple seeming numbers using complex form. Finally, we discussed one of the student's quiz questions that she missed because of interval issues."
"Tonight we worked on a worksheet dealing with finding the zeros of functions. The student was a little rusty on her factoring, but once we went through a couple of problems she did much better. I told her that if she would like to get some more practice on synthetic division to go back through her worksheet and check her work on the problems she didn't already use synthetic division on."
"In this session, we finished up the review for the student's upcoming final. A lot of today's work was over concepts she had covered in the beginning of the year, so she only needed a few reminders. She is still struggling a little in arithmetic and geometric sequences - I believe the best way she can feel 100% comfortable with those concepts is with practice. I did give her one equation to help her find the sum of a series (I thought this particular equation was easier to comprehend and solve for than the one given in class)."
