"The student completed several sections about the use of the apostrophe. He also wrote a report about opening his own restaurant. We reviewed his math homework. He also read from the book, Captains Courageous."
"The student worked on math using a sixth grade jeopardy template. We will continue working on ratios and proportions. She did much better than last session. She needs to be careful with reading the order of the comparison so she writes the corresponding ratio correctly. We will continue to work on this. She did well with expressions!"
"The student worked on the corrections to an exercise for which she had received a poor grade. This involved changing fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions. We reviewed how to use prime factorization to reduce the fractions. We discussed the importance of showing her work so her teacher can evaluate her work."
"The student worked through another practice exam for teacher certification. We discussed integers and rational numbers. We worked a little more on probability, including the distinction between experimental and theoretical values for the odds of something happening, and how differences between the two arise from small sample sizes. We touched on systems of equations and how they can be used to solve complicated word problems. We finished with the geometry of regular polygons."
"The student's class covered two more sections, and she had assignments for each. The topics were to use Venn Diagrams to represent set operations and then apply these principles to real world situations. The language is very specific, especially when using "and" and "or" statements. She has a test coming up on Tuesday, and we are tentatively going to meet on Monday to review and be sure that she is comfortable with the topics from this chapter. She is a very impressive student, willing to spend the time to thoroughly address all the assigned work."
"The student's questions were all physics questions, though they were very much mathematical in nature. We went over circuits involving both steady-state and time-varying voltage sources and resistors and capacitors, involving components in parallel and in series."
