Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked over the idea of reflections and translations today. Most of it was pretty easy for him. We did have a review, a rather intense review, on how to graph lines. For some reason, the slope intercept graphing gives him trouble. I'm going to try and think of a new way to approach it so that he can get a different understanding of it that might stay with him more long term."
"Today the student and I continued to cover the geometry of right triangles. We worked together to create a short study guide/summary of the information we had covered so far, complete with a few examples that she can use while studying. Once she thought she had a good handle on the content, we decided to go back and cover one of the subjects that she mentioned not having a complete solid grasp of. We covered the basics of absolute value and solving for algebraic equations and inequalities."
"During this session we continued to work on proofs and also logic. We spent most of the time on the proof because the student has an exam today. After the session he felt a lot more comfortable. He also had a take home exam on logic. He got through it with ease. Over all this session went well."
"This was my first session with the student. We went over several things but we mostly reviewed for a quiz he had today. The lesson was about inscribed angles, arc lengths, central angles, and the formulas relating them. We went through and did all the problems he found to be more difficult on some work sheets he had. He definitely seemed to be improving by the end of the session."
"The student and I studied different properties of triangles including side classification, angle classification, perpendicular bisectors, and some common formulas related to slope, linear equations, midpoint, and distance."
"We continued to cover 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles. The student was significantly faster at completing the problems than yesterday! She is going to complete additional worksheets on her own, as well as try to complete simplifying radicals to make sure that she is able to do them on the quiz tomorrow."
