Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we reviewed algun/ningun, and other positive/negative expressions such as that one. I provided the student with a review sheet that could help for her quiz if memorized; this was for the positive/negative relationship. It also contained the English translations. For the second part of the session, we worked on her homework. I her provided her with a comprehensive-basic verb list. We will review this before quiz."
"Today we had a good session with the student. We went over the lessons that I made up for her so as to assist her in gaining the knowledge for the final exam. Today we went over the afirmativos y negativos; comparaciones/superlativos. Will have to make up a power point so as to make the comparativos/superlativos easier for her to remember. Have already sent her material on the conditional, preterito, imperfecto, pronombres directos e indirectos for the next session. She was more confident today with part of the material. Did leave her with work to do to further the material covered today plus the lessons that I have sent her. She did do well with the debate that we worked on the last time. Professor gave her an A for the presentation."
"We reviewed the preterit tense of regular verbs, imperfect tense of regular & irregular verbs, and future tense of regular verbs. We also covered formal commands of usted & ustedes, formal commands of irregular verbs, and vocabulary words of food, condiments, and verbs. The student created computerized flashcards for the preterit, imperfect, future & conditional tense. The lesson went very well. The student understood the formal commands & did excellent with the vocabulary."
"We started out by reviewing some of the physical trait adjective vocabulary. He had lost the sheet and so was unable to study some of the words. I will email him a new copy. Then we reviewed ser/estar. He said that he is struggling to remember in which cases to use each. We read about the verbs in a Spanish textbook to get a different perspective and practiced writing sentences with ser/estar. For practice with "ser," he is going to write down descriptions of his relatives and friends. Our main focus today was verbs ending in "-er." We looked over a list of regular -er verbs. Next, I taught him the conjugation. Then, we practiced creating and speaking sentences with the -er verbs. For extra practice he is going to continue to creating new sentences. We finished the session with some practice reading out loud from the Messi biography."
"We studied reflexive verbs, how they are conjugated with their reflexive pronouns, and how they can be used as non-reflexive verbs. The student's homework will be to conjugate 3 verbs of each group (AR, ER and IR) and 2 verbs of the short list of verbs that can only be used reflexively. Last, we conversed in Spanish while writing a short paragraph."
"We went over common vocabulary and phrases for eating at a restaurant, applying the conjugation techniques we've been working on for the past few weeks. As usual, the student left with additional exercises and vocabulary sheets to work with."
