Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued talking about naming today. We talked pretty much exclusively about chemistry, since we were on schedule with algebra."
"We studied Reaction Rates, Integrated Rate Law, Reaction Mechanism, Effect of Temperature, Catalysts, Intro to Equilibrium, Reaction Quotient, Le Chatelier's Principle, Equilibrium Calculations, Radioactive particles and Rates of Radioactive decay."
"We corrected his test questions regarding solubility, equilibria, and acid-base reactions and buffers. We then began working on electrochemistry and redox reactions."
"We went through review questions and discussed relevant concepts along the way. I think the student better understood why she got certain questions wrong and had a better grasp of the material after talking through it together."
"The student and I met today, and we worked on learning the online learning platform together before we started the session. In this session, the student and I focused on biology by going over the learning objectives for her last exam's material. We started by going over the characteristics of life and viruses and went through toxin buildup in the food chain. We were able to cover many topics including: taxonomy, community succession and apex communities, primary and secondary community succession, DDT in the food chain, and what conditions determine what biomes are present. While we got to cover more material this session, we still had to make some decisions about what was most important to go over in the end. I believe this will get better as we are able to meet more regularly and go over the material with the class."
"The student and I spent a bit of time figuring how best to go through the material. I used the book as a structural guide. We used the Chapter 3 review to highlight the key takeaways and I then went in depth explaining in detail the chemistry behind the functional groups. I then went in depth in Theroux categories of molecules - proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids. She said she felt like she learned a lot. It was a productive session."
