Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has started chapter 5 in her textbook on integers. Our session focused on identifying how integers add and subtract. I worked to translate the theorems into plain English for the student, provided detailed problem-solving notes for example problems, and clarified concepts throughout."
"We reviewed the student's math exam. Some of the questions were quite complicated. We discussed strategy for taking tests. We also worked on studying for his Spanish exam. We worked on conjugating verbs. We went into great detail to understand the differences between the uses of estar and ser. We wrote out a grid with the conjugation of the four verbs, discussed their definitions, and the definitions of each pronoun. We also reviewed his English essay. He did very well with a B plus grade."
"I wrote out a quantitative and verbal plan for us to make sure that she is prepared for her advanced placement exam at the end of May. We went over Chapter 4 in the 6th Grade book and I assigned the student the previous Assessments for Chapters 1-4. We went over Chapter 5 and I introduced her to those concepts. Hopefully, the schedule will be effective and we will follow accordingly."
"We worked on concepts in lesson 2 for math. These concepts included factoring, and adding subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. We completed the pre-test, and now she will work on the homework over the weekend. I also reviewed the last paragraph of her English assignment. The student is really doing well with her writing. I have seen a lot of improvement."
"The student and I covered state assessment test questions. She did better than last session, and will keep working on taking her time. She got 21 out of 25 correct, but could have gotten 23 out of 25 if she had taken the time to do 2 of them the long way. She seems prepared for the most part."
"Today we went over the science state assessment and a science assignment the student had from class. We went over elements, atomic number, atomic mass, isotopes, and chemical formulas. The student needed help with knowing the names of elements. He was positive towards the material that was reviewed. I gave him tips for the science state assessment test and gave him lessons on concepts in the test. He knows the science concepts pretty well. He knows a lot of the elements, but still needs to study a bit more. He listened to what I had to say and committed it to memory, so he is improving and learning during the sessions."
