Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we covered the newest grammar topic: past and present perfect. This is a compound verb structure that has many irregularities and can be hard to translate. He did really well with the exercises we practiced and by the end of the session seemed confident that he knew the difference between when to use each. We worked on translation, which is hard and a great learning tool when learning new grammar. Also, we talked about how he did well on his imperfect test before the break and felt that working together helped him understand it better."
"Taught the student how to identify an indirect object pronoun in English. From there, we were able to convey the same principal but into Spanish. Continued onto learning how to conjugate verbs in the imperfect tense. Concluded by completing a vocabulary word search."
"The student has short story due soon in his Spanish class. In our last session, we brainstormed some ideas for his story. Since then, he had started the story. We reviewed what he had written so far, then continued to develop some ideas to complete the story. We discussed some vocabulary along the way, but really focused on point of view (first vs. third person) and verb tense (present vs. past) for his story. He was very proud of what he had written and was comfortable with the changes we discussed."
"Today, the student and I completed another session. We began with a short conversational review, going over how to express the calendar date, day of the week, and month. We introduced new vocab words to talk about the weather. For our main lesson, we focused mainly on new vocabulary. We went over colors and articles of clothing. We went over articles of clothing and discussed the variants according to other Spanish-speaking countries. We also incorporated a few exercises with short sentences where she had to recall a specific vocabulary term. We will pick up here for our next session and introduce additional vocabulary and more verbs."
