Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed vocabulary and content for tomorrow's test re-take. Focused on recording legacy vocabulary he hasn't retained for study going forward, with assignment of turning the vocabulary we noted today into flashcards for future study. Also practice discussion skills and reading comprehension, with a focus on using syntactic and context clues for parsing meaning and developing intuition for correct responses."
"We covered writing composition, Chapter 11 vocabulary, and familiar commands. Although the student isn't sure she will cover familiar commands in her class, she was still very willing and cooperative in learning the concept. She is a quick learner and is doing just great!"
"Today, the student and I covered the topic of irregular verbs in the preterite and the existential verb haber. We completed online homework assignments, in which we worked on reading and understanding the use of irregular preterit verbs in interrogatives and passages. We also practiced using irregular preterit verbs in sentences in order to report information found in passages. Finally, we reviewed the existential verb haber in the present and preterite (hay and hubo respectively) by completing an exercise that involved choosing between the correct tense."
"Today, the student and I completed another session. We began with a short conversational review. He is showing great progress with his vocabulary retention and is able to recall the correct terms when referring to the dates. We spent the rest of the session introducing the verb tener and its many idiomatic expressions that exist in Spanish. We practiced the verb conjugation and then introduced common phrases that use tener + in Spanish. With each phrase, we talked about examples of the expression and practiced mini dialogues with the phrasing. We also introduced flashcards in this session, and for homework, I've asked him to review his flashcards."
