Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I spent the first half of the session reviewing the strategy for sentence correction with some sample problems. She took a practice exam yesterday and had some timing issues on both the quant and the verbal, which likely had a large impact on her score. She and I then covered a few quant questions from her practice exam and the strategy for interest questions. I am going to email her a custom set of interest and other assorted arithmetic questions. I also assigned sentence correction 1, 2, and 3."
"The student and I went over the first several questions from his diagnostic exam. We practiced extensively the following topics: systems of equations, simplifying radicals, simplifying exponents, quadratic equations/quadratic formula. We will continue looking at the diagnostic exam in our next session on Thursday."
"The student completed most of her homework. She answered the majority correctly. We looked at combinatorics today. The student is starting to understand the more difficult questions. She's going to finish the pending CR questions for homework, as well as a short combinatorics worksheet."
"The student finished up the practice sets that I'd assigned in Geometry and Number Properties in addition to completing the lesson book chapter on Algebra. We began with Algebra, discussing functions and symbolism questions in depth, then moving on to clear up a few points of interest about factoring quadratics. After that, we returned to the Geometry and Number Properties questions that still gave her a problem, and this allowed us to discuss topics such as surface area, volume, the properties of four-sided figures like rhombuses, and special right triangles. I'm assigning her a couple of practice sets this weekend and another chapter in the lesson book, this time on Proportions."
"The student is doing great! We will meet again soon to talk about some of the content she still struggles with after a day of rest. She will then take a practice exam and it will be the last day of challenging problems before a full day of rest ahead of her exam."
"The student is on a great track to being prepared for the GMAT. I recommend that she study subject/ verb relationships and agreement more in depth before our next session. We also covered a few quant questions. We will review more of the combinatorics questions during our next session. She will be taking her first official practice exam this upcoming weekend and we will use the results as a place to hone in on problem areas."
