Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student's class is learning how to use line plots and bar graphs. I had her count the stairs in her house and display the data both ways. We also worked on examples from her text and discussed what types of data were appropriate for each graphing method"
"The student and I focused on addition and subtraction of single digit numbers today. We also started to introduce less than, greater than, and equal to. We will continue this introduction along with telling time the next session. He is learning how to tell time on a clock with hands."
"The student and I continued to review fractions. She still has some challenges with adding and subtracting mixed numbers. We went back over the strategies we worked on during our last session, and we will keep reviewing those. She is making significant progress in regards to word problems."
"Today the student completed her homework on mean, median, mode, and word problems. We also worked on subtracting two-digit numbers with borrowing as she still had trouble on occasion not knowing how to borrow. We'll keep working on it!"
"We worked on subtraction. We played a math game where every time he got a multiplication problem wrong he had to do a subtraction problem and every time we got a problem right, he did a dance move. We are just working through his old content so he has a better understanding for fourth grade!"
"I am starting to teach the student more 5th grade concepts in math since she seems to be picking them up rather quickly. Today she learned how to turn improper fractions into mixed numbers in order to find their place on a number line."
