Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed timed-essay strategies, Durrenmatt's play, "The Visit," and I gave a little bit of background on modernity and modern drama. The student has a great attitude. I prepared some tip/guide sheets, and have been keeping a shared document folder with him."
"Focused on reviewing words and adding a couple of new vocab words. Reviewed the past tense and basic verb forms, more plurals, and some grammar. Currently developing vocabulary on the topics of family, relationships, and activities."
"We worked some on pronunciation. The student is a quick study. We also reviewed verb tenses. The student is confident on past tenses. In this session I introduced future tense."
"We started with a basic introduction to French pronunciation, then moved into learning all the little words necessary to get started. This included pronouns, articles, and possessive pronouns. Next, we worked on an introduction to -er verbs, and conjugated three of them. We finished with reading some dialogues to get in some practice speaking the language."
"We went over a discussion of a short movie that the student watched so that she could practice her French conversational skills. She got a chance to learn new words and practice speaking. I noticed that she struggles a bit with conjugation. In time, I will include exercises to help her in that area. She would like to practice more practical (day-to-day) conversation so she can better prepare for her trip to France. So during our next meetings, I will simulate public settings that she would frequently encounter such as public transportation, restaurant, hotel, or airport settings. I also encourage her to let me know in advance of specific situations that she would like me to prepare her to. I think that she is very dedicated and, if she persists, will improve her French enough to fully appreciate her trip."
"We went over a few things from class, but she didn't have much, so we divided our time between some listening practice from my own materials, and reading the first couple pages of her French Harry Potter book which was just delivered. She really enjoyed that, it's great to have a student who's so excited to keep learning."
