Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Before this session, the student finished the multiple choice questions he had not finished in the previous session, checked his answers, and finished a (shortened) free-response section I had given him. As he began a new multiple-choice section during this session, I checked his work on the free-response questions. He had attempted many more sections than he had for the previous section he had worked on, and his errors overall were minor."
"We fixed the bugs in his Pig program and discussed Booleans and did more practice with conditionals. The student is improving his skills quickly."
"I spent the session teaching the student how to create classes and how to work with object oriented programming. We went over concepts that reoccur in all OOP coding like constructors, methods, getters, setters, polymorphism, while loops and Booleans, and went over the assignment he's going to be working on in school tomorrow."
"We went over how to implement interfaces and how to debug and write a main method to fully test the other parts of the code. A lot of what we did was to make sure the methods were using the right variables and returning the right variable types."
"The student and I continued to work on his tic-tac-toe project and made some significant headway as we now have a fully functioning player turn and win checker. The main thing we'll focus on next time is AI for the computer's turn."
"The student and I covered homework assignment 6 tonight. He is enthusiastic and eager to learn. We went through several sorting algorithms such as selection sort, insertion sort, merge sort and quicksort, the big O notation and worst case and average case analysis. It went well, and it's a great pleasure working with him."
