Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the topics laid out in the student's teacher's instructions, which were household/chores vocabulary and commands. She did very well with the household vocab, which we also went over last session, but she had more trouble with the chore vocabulary because it wasn't as fresh in her mind. We spent a lot of time coming up with ways that she could remember both the words and their meanings, and I was very impressed by her enthusiasm for the activity. I advised her to try saying the words aloud and writing them out as she studies, so she becomes even more familiar."
"The student did well with the activities she had to work on for her Spanish class. She is a fast learner and got everything correct when I quizzed her and asked her questions. All in all it was a very productive session."
"We did a review for the quiz that he would have been taking today. I went over the material and vocabulary that he had to look into. The student was very excited about learning the material and language. I sent him a PowerPoint on the culture section in his chapter."
"The student worked today on catching up in her workbook. We began with her doing a listening exercise that asked her to listen to a sentence and then write down words from a list of vocabulary that had been presented. She did quite well on this. We then moved on to more written vocabulary and grammar exercises, focusing on telling time, numbers, and countries. We also practiced using the verb, "ser." These chapters also included a few more listening exercises. She has a good grasp on the grammar and seemed much more confident than last week with the material . She has a positive attitude toward the work!"
"Reviewed all present tense forms of verbos: dar, estar, ir (for all personal pronouns). Answered all questions in exercises about all 3 verbs. Used the correct verb forms and completed 12 sentences. Answered 5 questions on ir, dar, estar verbs. Completed correct forms of 10 verbs. Completed correct prepositions in 8 sentences. Made up 5 sentences using 'yo voy a...' The student's attitude toward the material is always positive. He is focused. We discussed study skills to help him progress on his own. He should review all past material and memorize all verb forms for ir and estar. I always leave him with assignments and extra practice to be completed on his own."
"We spent the session preparing for an upcoming unit test which is to cover the first four chapters of the textbook. We started by doing an overview of what these chapters entailed. We then used flashcards to test the student's recollection of those concepts (reflexive verbs, preterite, vocab from all chapters, etc.). He was doing a pretty good job remembering the content. We are going to get an extra session in this week to better prepare for the test. Good work!"
