Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the basics of conditional logic: truth value, necessary and sufficient conditions, valid forms of inference and counterexamples. Then we did some practice with puzzles. We went over the entire logic games section. I showed the student how convenient tables are, how to try out examples in a disciplined way, how to recognize themes and how to group answer choices."
"Continued with review of LSAT concepts and strategies, focusing on LR and LG. Did another 2 logic games today, focusing on using most and least restricted letters to speed up our hypotheticals on questions that do not provide new information."
"Finished reviewing the student's prep test with a focus on the last logical reasoning section. Also, we reviewed general logical reasoning strategies on parallel reasoning questions and the most strongly supported questions."
"First in today's session we reviewed the Inference questions the student completed for homework. She had some trouble with them, particularly involving the some/most aspects of statements that we hadn't previously discussed. However, after discussing the mechanics she seemed to do well, and was able to answer the remaining questions correctly. We then looked at the reading practice she had done. She had struggled with a science based passage, her issues mainly stemming from not quite understanding the main purpose of the passage, so we went over a couple of strategies that may help. We then worked through a logic game with our remaining time, on which she performed very well. For next time she will be completing some practice on games and reading."
"For our first session, we worked through some logical reasoning questions. While the student's accuracy wasn't great starting off, she seems to quickly grasp how to answer the questions, and I'm certain that her score will quickly improve with practice. On Wednesday, we're going to continue working on logical reasoning and maybe begin on reading comprehension or logic games."
"Had the student do some work on logic games. Reviewed student's work on logical reasoning. Talked about practice moving forward (including increasing his reading) and what he needed to do going forward in the near term."
