"Today we went over finding the area between 2 curves. I talked him through the lesson in his textbook and then we worked through the example problems. I related the concepts back to the basic integration he learned in the previous chapter. The student did well with the examples. I suggested he always take the derivative of the antiderivative he finds to check his answers."
"The topic for today's lesson was Taylor Polynomials and series. We talked a little bit about background topics like convergence, divergence and ratio test before jumping into the important topics, such as finding the Taylor Expansion of a function, finding the Lagrange error, knowing the important Taylor Expansions (sin x, cos x, e^x), using derivatives, integrals, division, multiplication of known T, expansions to find other T. expansions, and related topics."
"Today the student and I continued to work on preparing him for his exam. We worked specifically on the integration of trig functions. We made a lot of progress and I think we really started to narrow in on the strategies he will need to be successful with this material. He still has a lot of preparation to do for next week, and if he is diligent we should be able to get in a good place for his exam in our next few sessions."
"We covered more derivatives, going in-depth about the different categories of functions. Although this can be a confusing topic, he student is doing very well. He has a bit of trouble visualizing what is actually happening when it comes to derivatives and functions. I suggested that he try to take a step back from the process of taking derivatives and picture what he is actually doing; he should even draw a detailed graph and visually describe every function if he has to. I left him with a few practice problems from the textbook."
"We completed the review of the student's practice exam. The last problems deal with trigonometry, derivatives, integrals, and probability. Before the exam on Wednesday she will do some of the worksheets on derivatives/ integration."
"We covered the practice problems from last week, including the u substitutions, finding area between curves, and slope fields. We finished with a discussion of the definition of the derivative and the calculation of special trig limits."
