Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent an hour on Singapore math (length) and finished the unit. We finished a book, wrote in the daily journal, did a "finding facts" reading exercise, practiced alphabetizing, and worked a bit on map skills."
"We started out today's session working on math. The student is doing a great job with tens and ones and using the groupings to count. We discussed that two tens and 6 ones is the same as one ten and 16 ones. Then we worked on spelling and reading. Henry is doing a much better job of sounding out words and working through unknown words."
"Specifically, we covered letter identification, spatial reasoning, and counting. We focused on a variety of letters, mainly consonants, which he struggles with more than vowels. He is a willing, cooperative pupil. His mother provides us with various learning aids. She also informed me of which letters he can identify. We focused on letters he still struggles with, and progress was made."
"We began by the student correcting his homework on the Wright Brothers. We did that for awhile, before switching to some reading passages out of a book. We ended with 10-15 minutes of an online source of math questions."
"Today's class, we went over the previous lessons. 1. how to say family members' birthday 2. how to say today, tomorrow, and yesterday 3. how to say a specific time. We continued with the vocabulary for her Spanish. She is picking them up well."
"We began the session discussing the class book Number the Stars and the first 5 chapters. The student has a good understanding of the book and was able to recall many important details. We then answered comprehension questions from a website. Then, we completed part one of his online assignment. We talked about vocabulary and using context clues to try to figure it out. We talked about taking our time and rereading the answer to make sure it is answering the question. At the end, we discussed the importance of his spelling words and knowing their definitions."
