Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session we covered the end of the Cold War. We specifically went over the time period from 1980 to 1990 and why the Soviet Union fell apart. I do believe that the student really understood the material during this session and could take ideas from previous lessons and place them into context within this lesson. For example, she remembered talking about Tito, ruled of Yugoslavia, on Tuesday and then was eager to learn about what happened at his death and how Yugoslavia broke apart. I also told her to prepare ideas for an essay that she will have to do in the next week."
"The student and I went over how to take notes more effectively, by skimming paragraphs, summarizing them, and identifying key words. I recommend that she use a note taking system since she can't write in the textbook (key words would be on the left, and paragraph summaries on the right). I showed her where to find the AP exams from previous years, and we went over the DBQ from the previous year's test, and practiced skimming/summarizing, and then putting that into answering the question."
"The student did really well today. We went over Multiple choice strategies today and he has proved he has been keeping up with reading. That is very good because we can concentrate on the test taking strategies."
