"We did practice problems on rates and unit conversions. Student A was having trouble remembering the unit conversions, so we made her a study guide to help her memorize them before the test on Wednesday. Student B needed some help simplifying radical expressions. I explained an example problem to him and he immediately understood and finished the rest of the questions easily."
"Today, we discussed the concepts of ser and estar; their conjugations; present tense regular verbs; how to conjugate for ar, er, and, ir; question words; hay; and basic vocabulary of days of the week, emotions, etc. We continued numbers and practiced reading Spanish dialog out loud to see how ser, estar, verbs, and vocab go together in informal conversation. I gave the students verb charts and vocab lists to practice by having conversations with each other in Spanish over the weekend."
"Tonight we worked on a new platform for math and spent the last 15 minutes on the regular website. The student continues to excel in above-grade-level math, but has a hard time with number lines and decimals. We will continue working on those basic skills in future sessions."
"We discussed the student's Spanish class (how it is structured) as well as her challenges in speaking Spanish. She has a hard time coming up with what to say when put on the spot, but an easy time writing responses to questions when given time to think. Using a speaking prompt from her class, we practiced transitioning answers from written to spoken form. We also practiced speaking conversationally. All in all, she seems to have a good foundation in Spanish and plenty of ideas about the topics discussed, and I think that with a little practice she will become more fluid and confident in her speech. In future sessions, we will continue to work on improving her proficiency and comfort in speaking Spanish through a number of exercises involving both written and oral components. She seems determined to improve her ability to speak Spanish and I am confident that she will."
"We covered the conjugation of the verb ser and when to use it (characteristics, descriptions). We also had a new lesson in the Spanish the Fun & Easy Way workbook. We reviewed the number and gender as well as definite articles (el, la, los, las). We then covered new vocabulary and new AR verbs."
"The student has a math midterm. Last night he did his homework problems and then did a couple of review questions. I think that he is well prepared for the test today. I think that he has a really good understanding of the concepts in this chapter. He has been able to do most of the homework problems completely unassisted. I think he will do well if he takes his time and double checks his work."
