How can Physical Chemistry tutoring help you?

Physical Chemistry can be thought of as the study of how matter behaves on a molecular and atomic level. The field also explores how chemical reactions occur. Physical Chemistry is a useful subject to know both for future academic endeavors and for future career opportunities. Some of the careers that use the knowledge learned in physical chemistry are chemists, astrophysicists, researchers, and more. In short, it is a valuable skill to know with a lot of potential uses. However, physical chemistry can also be a challenging thing to learn completely. If you're taking a class and need some help analyzing atomic orbitals, or thinking through thermal expansion, you might want to consider working with a tutor. The Varsity Tutors educational directors can find you an expert physical chemistry tutor in Beaverton to cater to your specific needs.

When you work with a tutor, the first thing you'll notice is how much more efficient your study sessions become. You'll find that Varsity Tutors will match you with a physical chemistry tutor in Beaverton, OR, who will motivate you to reach beyond your goals in physical chemistry, ultimately allowing you to excel in your class. Additionally, since your tutor will be an expert in the field, they will be able to answer any physical chemistry questions you have right as they come up. That means no more mindlessly flipping through textbooks, or searching the Internet for answers. This is another example of one of the many ways in which working with a tutor can make you a more efficient student.

Session Summaries by Physical Chemistry Tutors

Beaverton, OR Physical Chemistry tutoring
We discussed: kinetics, chemical equilibrium, and acid-base chemistry. We also talked about how to calculate rate constant and time for first order reactions when a given percentage of reaction is completed, discussed how to determine units of rate constants for different order of reactions, and determined rate of reactants and products from a balanced equation when one rate of the reactants or products is given. We then discussed chemical equilibrium and used it to calculate concentration of reactants and products and used the ICE chart to calculate the concentrations of reactants and products. For acid-base chemistry, we discussed Lewis and Bronsted-Lowry definitions of acids and bases. The student is progressing better and just needs to practice solving problems to understand the concepts fully.

First, we went over the limiting reagent problems because the student was having some trouble with those last week. She did great on the limiting reagent worksheet, so we moved to her current course work; thermodynamics and phase changes. We went over some conceptual information and then did problems where she did very well.

The student is in 10th grade and is taking Chemistry. We spent some time going through his materials, which would benefit from better organization. We succeeded in reviewing interconversion of moles and grams, the calorimetry equation, density, % error and a few other areas.

The student has a physics test tomorrow on vector math; in this unit she has to decompose vector variables like acceleration, velocity, and displacement into their x and y components to determine values like flight time, range, and max height. This session was just a review session for her test, so we went over problems much like the problems we did before. She's completing the last two problems on the study guide by herself, but I believe she can solve them based on the other problems that we solved tonight. I wish her good luck! When she gets her grade back, we can measure her progress.

The student was continuing to prepare for an exam Wednesday, covering topics related to the Solar System, its formation, and its planet types. She was very involved in the session and worked out several of the answers on her own with little need for guidance from me.

Today, the student and I reviewed equilibrium and reaction quotient (chapter 15) for his test tomorrow on chapters 15 and 16. We went over time again today. We reviewed several of his homework questions. I reminded him how important it is to have the equations memorized before his test so that he is able to work on his homework without having to look at his notes. He has told me in previous sessions that his problem on the first test was his struggle to understand what the question is asking and where to start when solving for the answer, so I reiterated today that he do his best to start the problems on his own when we work together. He seemed to have a pretty good understanding of the problems that we went over.
