Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I finished talking about acid and bases today. We mainly talked about Ka and Kb and how to solve problems based on the equilibrium constants. I also talked about how to determine stronger or weaker acids and bases. Overall, the session went well and he grasped the concepts that were presented to him. Next time, we are scheduled to talk about redox reactions."
"The student is doing a lot better with some of the basic concepts of math. She was able to multiply negative numbers, do order of operations, and some word problems without much difficulty. That's a huge improvement already over last week. We spent most of the session practicing rate problems and reviewing scientific notation. It took some repetition, but I think she started to get the ideas behind ratios and equivalent fractions and how they can be used to solve word problems."
"Today, the student and I worked on the science and math sections of the ACT. She is progressing well in the science section, but we still have a lot of practicing to do so that she is fully comfortable. It is important that she spend time practicing the math portion outside of our sessions, even if it's only for a small amount of time. She knows how to do most of the questions but often times is tricked by their wording or has trouble figuring out what the question is asking. Doing problems will help her recognize those tricks and will help her succeed."
