Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed the multiple choice question diagnostic test that I left with him last week. We discussed the answers and his thought process in completing the answers. We established some better test taking techniques and discussed why he made some of the choices he did. We also discussed a further plan of action for future sessions based on his understanding of the material discussed in the review by his teacher. We'll plan on setting up another session."
"Student and I went over the materials for her AP Europe quiz tomorrow (Thursday). The quiz will be on World War II. She was very knowledgeable about the basic events. She just needed confirmation that she was understanding the chronology correctly, and some help with the "big" picture (why some things were significant, and what some of the terms meant). I was impressed by the amount of work that she had already put into the materials. I think that for the future, we will focus on the events themselves, but also working more with the materials so that they are easier to remember. Most people learn visually, and I think that the more that she can look at maps, pictures, and create diagrams of the information (ie mind mapping), the easier it will be for her to remember the details of the historical people, places, and events."
"I'm delighted that the student did well on his last AP test. I can tell he has been studying hard and has many of the concepts and facts down! We went over section 5 of his workbook with only minor corrections and facts needed, then went back and reviewed Section 1. I encourage him to keep up the good work. At this rate he'll pass the AP test just fine."
