Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I went over some passages and reading questions. We discussed some potential options for him to figure out what method is going to work best for him during the reading sections. We discussed going over some practice tests and trying a few of the methods out to practice. We are going to identify a solid option for him to use on his test. The student also is going to take a look at the math sections and identify any problem areas so that we can go over them at our next session."
"The student and I went over the questions he missed on practice test 5, along with the outline he made for the essay. Afterwards, we reviewed general concepts that he should know for the test, such as matrices, conic sections, exponent rules, and grammar rules, including semicolon, colon, and comma usage. Overall, there doesn't seem to be an area that he struggles with. Within the math, section, he just needs to know and understand the relevant topics. Within English, he needs to know the grammar rules. Within English and reading, he needs to read before and after to obtain context to help him choose the correct answer. Within science, he just needs to be careful when reading the charts/graphs about the experiments. Our final session will be on Monday, where I plan to go over ACT strategies in general and answer any remaining questions he may have."
"The student and I got started with a general ACT overview, including pacing strategies for each section and an explanation of the writing and science sections' unusual formats. I then gave him a summary of the trigonometry and complex arithmetic material that is within the scope of the math section. Next time, we will cover some more math concepts and practice some science passages."
