Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student completed homework involving transformations of linear and quadratic functions, working with polynomial functions and their characteristics as well as finding real and non-real roots of polynomial functions."
"Logarithms, he had a homework set that we did without much trouble, we also finished the next chapter's homework on using some properties of logs."
"Reviewed answers on the first test he took since I started tutoring. Most mistakes seemed to be simple slip-ups which I worked on trying to prevent for future tests. The remaining time was spent on finding the inverses of functions and graphs involving logarithms"
"In this session, the student and I prepared for her quiz by going over her homework assignment. Topics we covered were synthetic division, graphs of polynomials, rational/irrational zeros, and standard form. Towards the end we started going over some strategies for multiple choice question she was having trouble with. Overall, it was a great session."
"We reviewed the student's previous test, which he received an A on. Next, we reviewed homework from Sections 3.1 and 3.2 and found he had a strong grasp on material. We also looked over Sections 3.3 and 3.4. The student is to do homework for 3.3 and 3.4, and then scan and send me all homework in email. This will allow me to review his homework and formulate a practice quiz for him on Thursday as he has a quiz over the material on Friday."
"The student and I finished up his math assignment. We went through several problems (sine/cosine, range, algebraic fractions, simplifying irrational expressions). He did a good job! As always, I recommended extra practice in order to cement the concepts."
"We continued with trigonometric functions. The student is showing great progress. He has demonstrated an ability to solve problems independently, and he is expressing confidence in his ability to tackle problems on his own."
"The student and I went over some of his current Trig work dealing with triangles. We then continued our review from chapter 1 in his book. We will continue to review all his past material."
"Covered trigonometric identities focusing on Pythagorean identity. Showed the student how to derive the identities and continued on to solve and verify equations. Concluded the session with a sample of how to solve quadratic trigonometric equations."
"Today we worked on limits. We went over graphical and numerical methods, and then moved on to analytical solutions. We graphed some problems together to help the student understand the Squeeze Theorem. We ended on a good note."
"Today we prepared for the upcoming Chapter 4 exam. We discussed trig ratios and their inverses, restrictions on inverse functions, and word problems involving trig ratios. No concerns to report."
"Worked with the student on preparing for her final in the following week. She just needed a general overview of topics that were covered earlier in the year. Also reviewed for the Chapter 3 test that she needed to make up."
