"We covered chapters 5 and 6. He did the vocabulary quizzes per chapter and the student really excelled on them. We went over the uses of conditional and future tenses and how they are formed. He also wrote and corrected two essays which he wrote using the vocabulary from chapters 5 and 6. This have him a chance to self-assess his work and ask relevant questions. He has shown great improvement from last semester. He has to write two more paragraphs for me before our next session to practice and improve his writing and grammar skills."
"The first student and I went through his Spanish book, looking at different sections of the chapter he is on right now (school/after school). I asked him different types of questions in Spanish and he responded. We worked on conjugating, having him read passages and answer questions for comprehension, speaking sentences and using vocabulary. He is a little rusty on words but comprehends pretty well. The other student and I went over her homework on quadratic equations and graphing quadratics (vertex, line of symmetry, table). She understands how to do the problems for the most part, but gets a little confused with more complex multiplication and sometimes with negative numbers. Practice will help her the best, and she has other problems she can work on."
"Today we spent a solid 45 minutes conversing in Spanish. He is coming along well with comprehension and is putting sentences together quicker. We practiced using some reflexive verbs and important phrases "estarse poniendo." He just started with his new teacher and is waiting to see his results from the previous marking period."
"In this session the student and I did conversational practice for the entire session. She talked about where she went on her family vacation, what some things her family did and what some of her favorite moments were. She also talked about summer classes she is taking. I could tell she had some difficulty remembering how to say things but I think with the summer sessions being conversational practice I think it will help."
"In this session we worked on a few topics, including vocabulary for health, medical terms, sickness, medicines, festivities, and holidays. We also reviewed grammar: indirect object pronouns; imperfect, preterit, present tense, reflexive verbs; and por and para. We worked on those topics above using context and several exercises. We also worked on several translations. The student was focused and receptive during the lesson. We were able to combine those topics together and it was very useful because it showed where the student needs to do more work. He understands each topic individually, but it is always challenging to visualize them together, and that is very common in Spanish. Overall, the session was productive."
"In today's class with the student, we finished reviewing the homework pending from last week about the imperative form and did a short reading in the last half hour. We talked about our daily lives. I will send her some homework during the week."
