We discussed many of the common variables and equations for harmonic motion, including wave - position, velocity, and acceleration; period of a pendulum and mass spring system; gravitational force and the relationship to gravitational field (g=GM/r^2) and centripetal force of an object in orbit (Fg=Fc); speed of a wave on a string; calculus derivation of spring potential energy (Us = 1/2*k*x^2) from the work equation (W = F*x) and Hooke's law (F = k*x); and the derivation of Kepler's law (T^2 proportional to r^3)."
"Today, we reviewed material regarding balancing reactions, knowing oxidation states, writing half reactions and understanding the periodic table. She has shown great improvement, as she was able to do many of the problems I assigned to her easily."
"Today, we reviewed naming compounds and writing molecular formulas. The student took a little while to warm up and had some trouble keeping her naming rules straight in the beginning, but she was doing well by the end. When studying for her test, I suggest she focus on polyatomic ions (name, formula, and charge) and the naming rules for acids and bases. The key for her at this point is practice and completing the problems on her study guide to prepare for her test."
