Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I looked over an FRQ covering the roots of the French Revolution in different factions within the Third Estate. He seems to have a good handle of the different causes of the French Revolution and how different factions within the Third Estate addressed the problems they had with the monarchy. We also talked about some different concepts and terms dealing with the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Period. It looks like he'll be in good shape for the essay portion of his test this coming Tuesday."
"We were able to complete a review of another two sections on the student's study guide, connecting old concepts to newer ones he's learned recently. He is doing a good job studying!"
"We began by reviewing some Chapter 4 material from our last session: the Puritan Commonwealth, Louis XIV, and the War of Spanish Succession. We discussed the material for Chapter 5: conflict between the Holy Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire, the Thirty Years War, the formation of Prussia, and Russia under Peter the Great."
"We began by reviewing the concept of the Renaissance and the Reformation, and reviewed how these events could affect the individual's outlook in the universe. The examples of using vernacular languages rather than Latin to read the Bible and pray. Then we reviewed the debate about the history of migrant crisis in Europe that we began yesterday."
"After talking more with the student, I decided the best approach would be to go through his notes and build off of what he already has written for each chapter. That way, I can fill in some of the "big picture," or key details, that he might be missing. This seemed to work well and he has some good information to add to his notes. We'll continue our discussion of Chapter 13 in our next session."
"In this session, the student created an outline for an extended response essay that she needs to do for class. We reviewed the main themes of Renaissance arts and events that led to changes in ideas during this time. Following the essay work, we went through her assigned reading out of her textbook and reviewed for Monday's test. She has a great work ethic and seems to have a solid grasp of how to write the type of essays that are required for this class."
