Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on her geometry review packet. She went through trig problems and I helped her with any areas she was struggling with. For the most part she understands the material; some of it she was not in school to learn, but she picked it up quickly."
"This was a very productive session! We covered many topics in biochemistry; saturated vs unsaturated fats, chemical bondings, periodic table trends, and functional groups, as well as identifying patterns of inheritance."
"We covered limiting reactant concepts. The student needed help with some of the conversions at first, but with practice mastered the problem quite well. His skill with stoichiometry had improved a lot since we began sessions."
"We covered simple harmonic motion (as it applies to springs and pendulums/bobs), plotting position, velocity, and acceleration graphs for SHM. The student had a great attitude towards the material. I discussed real-life examples, multiple explanations, equation derivations, key things to remember, and how to generalize the shapes of cosine/sine graphs. I then gave her some slightly different and more difficult practice problems to take a stab at. As always, the win from this session was seeing the techniques I taught the student sink in and be used to correctly answer questions."
"We used the physics book. We reviewed chapter 12 (sound waves) and chapter 13 (kinetic theory of gases). The student did the problems for his homework on chapter 12 only. He needs review and practice. We'll work on that in our next session."
"We did a problem set together going over gravitational force and the effect of changing distance on that gravitational force. We used the equation Gmm = r^2. The student seemed to understand the material after we reviewed it."
