Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met for the first time to review some subjects in his Stat 1200 class. Our main focus was on comparing z-scores and percentiles, using those percentiles, and figuring/using the margin of error for different population samples."
"Today, we covered analyzing response and explanatory qualitative data. We used box plots, scatter plots, and linear regressions. We also discussed r-values and how they relate to the strength of the correlation of two data sets and how to make a least squares linear regression equation using Minitab. The student has a positive attitude towards the material. We hope she earns a high grade on her last assessment (we're shooting for an A)."
"This session, we reviewed Z-distribution and hypothesis testing. We did practice problems to walk through the steps of hypothesis testing. The student is getting better at interpreting the statistics with regard to the problems."
"We went over the formula for PDF and CDF as well as transformations using the Jacobian. The student seems to understand a lot of the pieces she needs. It's just a matter of putting them all together."
"Today we focused mainly on part three of the student's lecture notes on correlations, regression, correlation coefficient, coefficient of determination, etc. We went over her notes and then she worked on her homework problems. We finished by discussing her studying strategies for over the weekend, with her exam being on Tuesday. I think she should do well on this exam if she puts in the right amount of reviewing this weekend. We are going to meet on Monday for a review session before the exam."
"The student had sent me her recent quiz with solutions. We started the session by going over those questions, and I explained the solutions fully. I think after going over it, she understood it much better. Then, we went over her homework questions, and we also went over the relevant lecture slides: Bernoulli trials, binomial distributions, Poisson dist., etc. We will continue reviewing the homework during the next session and also prepare for her quiz on Monday."
