Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I opened this lesson up with some of his schoolwork, focusing on spelling and dictation. He also had some reading comprehension homework, which I assisted him with. I'm happy to report that he has started to self-regulate his reading speed. Sometimes, if he feels that he is missing important information, he will follow along with his finger. I still need to remind him to slow down sometimes, but this is a great step forward."
"We continued with the Bob books and reviews "a" sounds from Thursday. We focused on other sight words that have been giving the student trouble."
"The student worked on his spelling words (-ai-, -ay) words. We categorized, used letter tiles, and did a practice spelling test."
"First, the student finished her story problems. She did a great job. Next, we did some reading comprehension work and a writing exercise on comparing and contrasting the violin and trumpet. Finally, we read Abel's Island together. It was a good session."
"The student was able to write 2 facts and 2 opinions, which was the warmup. Then, we read 3 short passages, identifying genre and answering the questions in the workbook."
"The student started the session with a review of possessive nouns and did very well. Following this, he read a selection about Smokey the Bear. He is getting better at decoding unfamiliar words. I am working with him to listen to the words/ meaning as he goes through. He also continued with punctuating dialogue. Finally we worked on the conjunctions and, but, and or. He did very well on this."
