"We first reviewed numbers and dates, practiced writing dates and practiced saying and identify body parts and "knock knock" scenario, we also practiced identifying the animals. She also learned how to count to 900 today! At the end I let her watched a short classic Chinese cartoon "three monks". Today's new vocab were: hundred, monks, she also learned how to write: hair and head. The homework is to complete the worksheet."
"The student has the speaking part of his Chinese final this Friday. I helped him prepare by going over the questions that may be on it, explaining grammar concepts and terms as necessary, and giving him a mock quiz."
"We reviewed the lesson we have been working on this month and practiced memorization of her verb list. We created a game of "Go Fish" using vocabulary from her textbook."
"We reviewed the terms and pronunciations for countries and conversational questions. We began learning vocabulary about animals and objects (school, textbooks, pens) and incorporating those terms into conversations. The students remain enthusiastic about learning Chinese. I left them with the names of Chinese singers that they can listen to in addition to their homework."
"Both students continued to review basic Chinese greetings, including asking and answering basic questions. We also worked on the Chinese words for family members, such as parents and siblings. We practiced writing Chinese characters for the radicals meaning heart, sunset, father, walk, crops, and mouth."
"Chapter 20 contains a fair amount of new material for the student, so today we went at a slower pace as we covered things the textbook may have expected him to already know at this level. Many times, when we hit a new phrase, he will say that he's heard it before but does not know the written characters. His previous teacher's style did not place as much emphasis as mine does on writing & visual recognition. I asked him to prep the vocab from our previous chapter for his quiz on Friday."
