Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this tutoring session the student and I continued to cover the 1930's but instead focused on the Middle East and Africa. The main focus was the collapse of the Ottoman Empire at the end of WW1 and the implications that had on the rest of the Middle East. We then moved into talking about Egypt as well. I do believe that she is progressing well and I am amazed of how much information the 12 year old girl knows. She does have a great ability to suck in information, process it and then apply it. I just think that she needs to work more on her essays. We came up with a new method that I would help her with an outline of an essay and then she would write a draft and I would review it on Friday."
"The student and I discussed his expectations and issues with his previous attempt at an AP test. We agreed on a goal of scoring a 4 on the AP World History exam since he scored a 3 on the AP Geography. He seemed very focused and ready to prepare for what he expects will be a hard test. We agreed that his areas of weakness are mainly Russia, China and Africa but his grades in the class show that he has a fairly good understanding of the material presented. We plan to meet again at the same time next Friday. He will go through his notes and quizzes to find areas where he was less confident or scored lower than his average so we could focus our attention on those areas. I will develop some test questions on the areas of interest that were discussed to help work his knowledge and to start building good test taking skills."
"The student and I went off a DBQ about the relationship of the peasants and China's Communist Party. Her attitude was positive. She did well in analyzing the documents but had difficulty in thesis writing. We went back to basic in categorizing the document in social, political, and economical. With more practice she will do fine and pass the AP exam."
