Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we began the session by covering counting by 10s and 1s combined. We then moved on to covering subtraction and addition with all sorts of numbers from 1-20."
"We went over a math worksheet from class. We also talked about multiplication and some methods to help her remember her multiplication tables. She did a great job today!"
"Today the student completed a worksheet that I created that contained multiplication, addition, and subtraction word problems. She answered the questions correctly. Next we worked on her 6 multiplication tables. I was very impressed with how quickly she was able to learn her 6 times tables. Lastly, she worked on a subtraction worksheet that required her to use her mental math strategies. She practiced doing the problems in her mind before working through the problem on paper. After she stated the correct answer she had to explain how she arrived at the correct answer. Whenever she had to use regrouping during a subtraction problem she had to check her mental math work by working through the problem using the regrouping strategies she learned in previous sessions. Lastly she had to check her work using addition. By doing this she was able to integrate a wide variety of her math strategies that she learned from previous sessions. During the session, I was pleased that she began to think independently and figure out alternate ways to work through her subtraction problems. In addition her mom stated that her grades are increasing. She also stated that she is doing much better with her classroom work; especially her multiplication tables. I left her with some subtraction problems and multiplication tables to practice for our next session."
"Today the student and I were able to practice counting in groups of 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's. We continued our work with complements of 10 and doubles and three-digit addition with carrying. Keep up the great work."
"We practiced adding and subtracting side by side. We also worked online to understand the student's strengths and weakness in each topic. We practiced making patterns with shapes and numbers. She will need help with the follow-through for each problem until she understands. We will continue to work on that."
"I began the session by checking over the student's homework. After checking it, I assigned him two pages in his workbook. He covered topics such as multiplication, division, fractions, etc. He did a good job today; division is a little tricky for him since it's a new concept, but I think he's doing a pretty good job so far. I assigned him some homework and when he finished, we played a quick game of chess."
