Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"He sent me a copy of the assignment so I am going to read over them and edit for our session tomorrow. He has his big AP English test in 2 weeks and also needs to take a Math exam in May so our next step is to create a clear action plan for prepping for those things. We talked a lot about testing strategies today and how to study."
"The student and I worked primarily on his English and Human Geography homework, after a quick review of the successful work he had done for his biology homework. We looked in-depth to see what his teacher is looking for on his English assignment. He explained his plan for the assignment."
"Today, we discussed strategies the student could use to deal with her anxiety. We also discussed strategies to use when approaching difficult math problems. This includes identifying important details and focusing on the key question. Reviewed math chapter one problems. She applied these strategies on practice math problems. We also discussed and planned her study times. Including spending and determining what action is needed to solve the problem. We also planned the next tutoring sessions, where 1/2 of the time we review math and the other half work on her other subjects. She is hard working and focused on succeeding."
"We covered 2.5 chapters after reviewing the prior session. Info included electron configuration, atomic orbitals, and acid base chemistry."
"Mother wanted me to work on his organization and preparing him for the school year. He was reluctant, but I was able to engage him. However, he did not complete the math homework."
"We began working practice problems so that I could identify the student's areas where she needed the most help. She is completely unfamiliar with trig, so that will be a major area of focus. I will spend a good bit of time trying to show her a method of identifying what formulas and equations she needs to use."
