Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was not initially clear on how to graph rational functions so we reviewed her class notes and practiced extra problems. We then worked on simplifying, adding, subtracting, and multiplying rational expressions."
"The student and I covered the ACT English section comprehensively. We went through several strategies, such as the first and last method and process of elimination. The first and last method seemed really helpful in the social sciences and humanities passages, and will really allow her to increase her reading speed. We went through the prose, social science, and humanities passages. She had practiced timing herself, picking three out of the four passages. Next session, we will cover the ACT science section."
"Today, the student and I worked on several different subjects of the ACT. I had assigned her some science passages to complete, and so we first went over the answers to these passages. She did well overall. She seems to be getting better at reading the graphs, as she was able to correct a lot of the mistakes she had made on her own. After science, we moved on to the writing section. We went over a prompt in the ACT prep guide and outlined an essay. Finally, we worked on reading comprehension. I had a few exercises specifically on context clues for her, and we also worked on a passage in the prep guide book. For additional practice, I asked her to complete another passage in both the science and reading comprehension sections. We will discuss these tomorrow."
