Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered indefinite and definite articles, review of numbers, alphabet, Christmas vocabulary and new adjectives."
"We reviewed various forms of vocabulary using worksheets, handouts, and hands-on word activities. We reviewed lots of vocabulary today."
"The student has his final coming up so we went over the things that are going to be on the exam. Mostly it was things he has been doing for a while learning Spanish, but some topics like the subjunctive, commands, and preterite v. imperfect are newer topics we went over a little more in depth since they are newer and less familiar topics."
"Today we learned how to describe people and talk about ourselves. To do this, we went over the verb etre, to be, and adjective agreements. We also practiced common regular verbs in the present tense, which will greatly expand our ability to communicate about what we like, do not like, and what we do."
"Today, the student and I reviewed the months and seasons. She drew a picture for each season, and then labeled it in French, and put the appropriate French months for each season. We also labeled more things around her house (bathtub, shower, washer, dryer, lamp, painting, etc.). I taught her the verb avoir, and we practiced using it together in a fill-in-the-missing-word paragraph (in French). We ended by reading Dr. Seuss together in French."
"Today's lesson was really great! We covered clothing, table settings, colors, and the letter D. She is picking up on the names of clothing very quickly and is able to identify dress, shoes, and t-shirt without an English prompt. We did an activity where we picked out some of the clothes she owns and talked about them with their French names. I was so pleased during our color activity when she picked up a white crayon and said the French name straight away! The only colors she still needs an English prompt for are green and yellow. In the coming week I hope to begin working colors into other areas of our lesson, like describing clothes and household objects. As always, Mom has our letter learning pages and some flash cards at home. I will send an email requesting that she practice clothing and table settings with the student."
