Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During today's session, the student and I continued to work through ACT practice problems. The bulk of our time was spent scoring and correcting the two sections I had assigned him as homework last weekend. The student continues to improve from week to week, and I am very satisfied with his current section scores in Reading and Science. The student's Math and English scores show substantial improvement, but I believe he is capable of scoring even higher."
"Reviewed concepts such as finding the equation of a circle, determining parallel and perpendicular lines, exponent multiplication and division, and logarithms. We introduced new topics related to chords, clock math, diameter/radius/circumference/area of a circle, and we also began covering how to find the probability of an outcome."
"We went over the student's diagnostic reading test. We went through 3 passages and associated questions in depth, and I discussed some general reading strategies as well as common types of questions and tips for finding solutions in the passage. We discussed passage mapping (quick big-picture recap of each paragraph, a literal "map" to help locate details quickly), vocabulary questions (usually give you definitions in context before or after the word), Always/Never/Only questions."
