Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is starting AP Spanish on Wednesday, and he thought it would be helpful to review some verb conjugations to refresh his memory. I started the session by going over the conjugations for all of the verb tenses that I could think of, which included the simple present, preterite, imperfect, present subjunctive, imperfect subjunctive, present perfect, past perfect, future, conditional and imperative. For each tense I showed how the conjugations would be for -ar, -er and -ir verbs, and I also listed all of the irregular verbs for each tense. I then asked him which tenses he felt less comfortable with, and for those I had him practice. I also gave a quick lesson on when to use the preterite vs. the imperfect. The session went very well. The student seemed to remember a great deal from his past classes, and the things that he did not remember he re-learned very quickly."
"I reviewed the school worksheet with the student. We covered: number reviewed 10 thru 20, months of the year, reviewed body parts, spelling of 20 words, practiced word pronunciation. Sentence building using objects found in classroom, role played greeting people, role played introducing himself to others. In addition, he made a list of things and activities he likes and does not like to do."
"We covered basic daily conversations, some of the characters, and some reading. The student didn't learn the language systematically, so the words she knows are really based on conversations. I left her some reading to do and asked her to practice some conversations."
"We learned the verb should in Spanish. Student 1 used it correctly and so fast, and for Student 2 it took longer but he used it correctly. With Student 1 we did exercises using all the personal pronouns, and with Student 2 only using I. Student 2 has homework, to write 10 sentences of what he shouldn't do in public places, that I am going to review next Sunday."
"We made a feedback of his past exams in order to strengthen his weakness. Also, we kept conjugating new verbs to get stronger sentences. We started to doing some writing as an example. I left him a small homework. Finally, he has a lot of material for refreshing his mind and for studying further."
"The student practiced Spanish past participles and complete sentence exercises. We worked on 2 "word searches" as a vocabulary review and 1 reading comprehension."
