"The student took SSAT math diagnostic test 1 over the past weekend; he improved from where he started since he scored 55% (up from 42%). However, the score is not at 70% where it would be preferred. I went over all the ones that he missed, and I will send him another test to take over the weekend for more evaluation. I also covered the first part of a verbal diagnostic test by finding synonyms of vocabulary words. As usual, I gave him the definition of all those he didn't know. I started the second part, which is based on analogy; I plan to finish it next time."
"The students and I worked on expressions, multiple operations with fractions, and I introduced a higher-order thinking UPEC math model to solve word problems. The students both did well with math. We read a figurative language prompt and informative text prompt. I would like to find out both of their guided reading levels."
"We solved the calculator portion of Practice Exam for Unit 2. Particularly, we determine a solution of the system of two equations given by table. We first determined the equation of the function using stat plot, then graphed the equation and determine a solution using the TI 84+. We also determined a coefficient from the given graph. Next, we solved word problems using matrices, and recognized a matrix equation in a multiple-choice problem. Next, we determined maximum value of the function given the description. We also went over the non-calculator section that she has solved on her own."
"We worked on monetary policy content, focusing on calculating excess reserves, money multipliers, and M1 and M2 components. We also discussed the implications of fiscal policy and monetary policy on their effects on the economy."
"Today I covered ACT reading and math with the student. She did ok with the reading, although she mentioned some of the longer passages are difficult for her. She was positive and motivated throughout the session. As always, I tried to have her walk through her thought process so we could identify errors. I recommended that she continue to practice on her own."
"We reviewed osmosis and diffusion and isotonic, hypotonic and hypertonic solutions. The student's attitude was very positive. I gave the student information to review and questions to answer after the review."
