"The student and I worked on her Spanish today. She had prepared so well, organizing and studying! I was very impressed with how well she knew her stuff. We went through the grammar of all her old tests and also some vocab, which she had down pat."
"The student and I finished our last session. We did another science portion and focused on underlying and boxing key phrases while reading the passages. Her scores have improved drastically over the 5 meeting we have had. After that we continued working on some math. She did very well."
"-More SAT practice questions, this time focusing on vocabulary and reading -Discussed how to break down vocab into root prefixes and suffixes -Asked him to make flashcards of vocab; I will work on making a list of prefixes and suffixes and their meaning"
"Today was the first time we had met in three weeks. The student had been busy with other things in class these past few weeks. Today we were able to review both Biology and Chemistry. In Biology we reviewed processes of the cell such as replication, transcription, and translation. We went into detail with each of these processes and discussed all the enzymes and substrates that are involved. We also reviewed some of the biology material from previous weeks. In Chemistry we discussed orbitals and then reviewed material from previous weeks. The student continues to work well with me as long as I actively engage him in the discussions by asking questions and getting him to describe/explain topics to me."
"The student's first econ exam will be Friday. This session we went over two chapters in depth that was going to be on her exam Friday. We went over each section's review questions, as well as figuring out real life scenarios for the equations mentioned in the chapters. As we covered each chapter, the student highlighted important information that she wanted to look over before the exam. Some of the key terms and equations were a bit confusing to explain, so we worked together to simplify the definition and made notes in the margin of her textbook. We also looked at the handouts her professor provided her, as well as her two previous quizzes. After our session the student said she would go over chapter 8 on her own, as this was the chapter recently discussed in class. She will also work on the short answer problems in her economic workbook."
