"Student had completed the Writing diagnostic test for me, so we took some time to go through that. He half-remembered more grammar rules, but he was willing and able to take advantage of new information. He is to complete the Science diagnostic for next time."
"Today, the student and I focused on the English portion of the ACT. I first went over some tips and strategies she should employ on the test, and then we worked on some practice problems from the website. These practice problems focused on trouble areas I had noticed in her diagnostic test, as well as grammar rules that are frequently tested in the ACT English test. We then moved on to an actual English section in our ACT prep guide books. I found that, while she has a lot of good intuition for answering the questions correctly, she doesn't understand the rules of grammar behind the answers. I was able to identify some of her more challenging areas and explain the grammar rules to her. I will continue to dedicate some time in future lessons to covering grammar rules, as well. Knowing these rules will undoubtedly help her get a higher score on the English portion of the ACT."
"We covered practice problems from the ACT English, Math, and Science sections. The student has made remarkable progress since we started working together and will have no problem attaining her target score on a future ACT. She only needs a concept explained one time before she can understand and apply it."
