Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a placement test scheduled for Tuesday, and needed some help on potential questions. We went over LCM, GCF, prime factorization, and the Sieve of Eratosthenes Theorem. He understands the information and was able to explain the concepts back to me."
"We covered kinematics, 2D motion, and some unit conversion. We reviewed vector mathematics and how to apply vectors. I included strategies for choosing formulas to use in solving problems, solving projectile motion problems, and how to use kinematic problems."
"The student had homework from her introductory stats class, including questions about ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc. We went over the test conceptually and then modeled different examples so she could see the "proof" of our answer choices in action."
"Today, we focused on math and reading. The student seems to have a better grip on trig and geometry. As for reading, her accuracy has definitely increased, so now time is the one thing holding her back. I suggest taking a practice reading test a couple times this week with real timing to figure out where she is right now and where to go from there."
"We focused on reviewing reading and math skills in a competition format between the two girls. We used multiplication flash cards to quickly quiz over the multiples of fives and tens. We then worked in the word ladder book that I provided to quiz vocabulary back and forth between both student. I set them up on a practice site and recommended a couple of exercises that they could use."
"We talked about testing strategies and arranged the schedule. The student finished a math test and we worked together on using the strategies to anticipate answers as she read. She is doing well."
