Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on reviewing many topics. The student did well with the material. Her attitude was positive and upbeat. I included strategies to convey the concepts."
"During this session we went over SPDF orbitals, electron configurations, orbital theory, and the trends of the periodic table. We worked on various questions on the student's review packet. Overall this session went well."
"We looked at past chemistry exams to help review for the final. The problems involved the definition of both homogenous and heterogenous mixtures, electrochemistry and electron affinity and atomic radii trends. The student asked questions when he needed to as he worked through problems."
"Our session today was focused on balanced net ionic equations. The student had a packet containing hundreds of practice problems. Rather than sequentially go through them (which would have taken way too long), we went through a couple examples of each different kind of problem. By the end, he seemed to have a very solid understanding of his assignment."
"This week, we helped the student review for his final. We focused on topics that he had studied himself before we began our tutoring, namely properties of water, organelles, glycolysis and respiration, and photosynthesis. I also pointed out the most important concepts of each section and left him with a respiration cheat-sheet."
"The student and I spent the first half of our session going through his Algebra review sheet. There were some concepts he needed work with: substitution method and elimination method, multiplying and adding radicals, and working with imaginary numbers. After we spent some time on these subjects, it seemed as though his classwork came back to him, and he was able to apply them to practice problems. In the second half of our session, the student and I talked through the concepts in his chemistry review sheet. We will work on the math problems on his chemistry sheet in our next session."
