"The student and I worked through equilibrium constants. I explained the overall idea of the constant, its use, and definition. When we went through the problems, she was very unsure initially, however after a couple sample problems she was able to complete them without help. We then moved on to Le Chatelier's principle. She needed a lot of help with this section, so I encouraged her to look through the problems again using the notes I left her with. Next session we will continue to work on this section and review the equilibrium constant."
"He had some sample AP exam questions that he wanted to go over, so we went over those. They were a bit different from the ones in the test prep book and the past AP questions that I went over before the session. There was one in particular that I had never seen before and wasn't like any of the questions in the study packets. I gave him a set of past AP questions for additional practice."
"We reviewed concepts from nuclear chemistry, including definitions of gamma, alpha, and beta particles. We finished your homework involving these practice questions. We then reviewed the idea of half-life and did a few practice problems to understand how to apply the half-life equation to chemistry problems."
"Today's lesson covered solutions (molarity, mass percent, VM=moles, stoichiometry of solutions). These were the last topics to be covered prior to the student's exam. We will spend the next session reviewing her assignment and working additional problems prior to her exam."
"We finished reviewing the student's engineering analysis homework and studied for his upcoming test. We worked on solving systems of equations using Cholesky's method, Gauss-Siedel iteration and talked about how ill-conditioned systems can drastically affect solutions of equations. We also reviewed a previous quiz and on numerical integration."
"This session was spent going over a practice assessment exam. Since it has been a long time since he took general chemistry, this session was a lot of general chemistry review. Topics included solubility rules, stoichiometry, freezing point depression/bp elevation and periodic table trends."
