Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today's first half hour was with Student 1. I tried to review everything we've learnt so far instead of throw out too many new things. In reviewing, I repeated those words again and again, and I also asked him to repeat them back to me as well. Today's new vocab was: spin and dizzy. Second half hour was with Student 2. The focus was numbers 1-10. She was willing to speak more than usual. She also learnt a few new words: sun, China, "open the eyes" and "close the eyes"."
"We went over the translation assignment, an essay from English to Chinese. We finished chapter 17, decided to skip chapter 18, and moved on to chapter 19, "Traveling", which he felt more interested in and might help him when he travels in the summer."
"The student and I continued practicing her vocabulary and speaking it to help with retention. Then, we worked on some of her homework and talked about a story in Chinese."
"It's always a pleasure meeting with this student. His new textbook is proving to be an extremely useful tool for us. Today we reviewed the narrative from last week and broke ground on a new dialogue, which we will complete on Wednesday. Topics covered include some new uses of the verb dui, lots of useful concrete vocabulary, and the phrase yi zhi. His homework for the next two days is to review his sentence workouts (p. 19 in the textbook) and create a quiz set with the subject area vocab in our current chapter."
"The student and I reviewed lesson 14 part 2 dialogue review in the workbook. He had a good attitude. His homework is lesson 4 part 2 in the workbook."
"The student completed his homework assignment. We covered core content, and the student translated 4 English sentences into characters using the teacher-provided reference sheets (vocabulary/phrase list)."
